Salina is a writer and designer.

She was recently longlisted for the CBC Nonfiction Prize. She is currently at work on a manuscript while she continues to explore personal essays.


BASICS

Salina Jane Vanderhorn is a writer and award-winning designer. She was raised in the tiny nuclear town of Deep River  where her favourite toys were books. Her love for art and words sent her to Toronto where she obtained an advanced diploma in graphic design with honors from Humber College in 2011. She began her career designing for iconic brands in Toronto. In 2022, she returned to Deep River to soothe her nervous system and explore her pull to writing. In 2023, she began creative writing courses at the University of Toronto. Her writing has been longlisted for the CBC Nonfction Prize. She now writes essays and manuscripts while designing.

CURRENTLY

  • When she is not writing essays, Salina is working away on writing her memoir that explores grief in all its forms.

  • Salina spends her days designing alongside an amazing team at the prolific DTC brand agency, Sharma Brands.

  • Salina periodically publishes short essays and rambling thoughts on her Substack. Subscribe for free!

  • Salina is an active and engaging member of a local writer's group, Writers Unite. The group has given her a place to explore different styles and build confidence as a writer.
